A fundraising concert in memory of an Ammanford stage school teacher is taking place in the town next weekend.

Encore Stage School, which is based in Ammanford, was opened three years by principal Elin Wyn Murphy and Rebecca Evans, who were partners in the venture from the moment it opened.

On November 29 last year, Rebecca, originally from Penygroes, was killed in a tragic accident on the M4 near Port Talbot.

The 27-ywar-old was eight months pregnant and her unborn daughter Cari also died.

Rebecca’s partner Alex and their two year old son were also in the car, and whilst Alex was unhurt Cian was badly injured.

He had two fractured femurs and a fractured skull and was flown by Air Ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Rebecca was a qualified dance teacher and inspired children from ages 4 to 18 years old at Encore while preparing them for performances in stage productions, concerts and festivals.

Determined to do something that would be a fitting tribute for all that Rebecca had done for the students of Encore,

Elin said: “I decided to put together a concert a few months ago but because I am so used to planning shows with Becca it was hard without her there.

“All money raised with go to Wales Air Ambulance Charity after their heroic efforts last November without whom Rebecca’s son Cian may not have survived the accident.”

As well as Encore performing throughout the concert, a host of Welsh stars have joined the bill.

West End superstar Sophie Evans, Caryl Parry Jones and the 4o5's, soprano Flur Wyn from Glanaman, Dawnswyr Talog, Cor Meibion Llanell, Cor Lleisiau’r Cwm and Deiniol Wyn Rees will all be performing on the night which will also see members of Rebecca’s family in attendance.

There is also set to be a special performance from Elin herself who has starred in several West End musicals and has sung with Sir Elton John.

Concert in Memory of Becca is being held at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman at 6.30pm. Tickets are available from Siop y Pencan in Carmarthen, Shoppers World in Ammanford or by contacting Elin on 07815871430.
