A Towy Valley mum has raised over £3,000 for a children’s charity after running her first marathon last weekend.

Sarah Parry, of Llandovery, decided to take part in the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for Bobath Children’s Therapy Wales, who have helped two of her sons who suffer with cerebral palsy.

The mother-of-four first discovered the organisation when she had to take her son Jamie for therapy sessions.

The 35-year-old said: “We first learnt of the fantastic work Bobath does when I took my son there for therapy.

“Since then I have given birth to my youngest son Jacob, who is lucky enough to be a part of the charities better start, better future scheme which offers intensive block therapy sessions.”

This is not the first time the part-time nurse has raised money for the charity.

Sarah said: “Last year I took part in three half marathons and one of them was to raise money for Bobath and between me and my husband, Daniel, we raised over £1,800 for the charity between us.

“Bobath were looking for people to run the London Marathon this year and I decided to give it a go and I completed it in five hours and 11 minutes. I would like to thank everyone for their support.”
