A ward in Glangwili Hospital has closed due to an outbreak of gastroenteritis.
Infection prevention specialists are asking people not to visit patients on the Ceri Ward after several people experienced symptoms of the stomach condition.
Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract that involves the stomach and the small intestine.
It is a common condition that can affect people of all ages.
As a precaution, the ward closed will remain closed to visitors until tomorrow – March 30.
A spokesperson for Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “Illnesses such as gastroenteritis can pass from one person to another very easily.
“Viruses can be serious for sick and vulnerable patients and we are asking for your support to protect patients and healthcare workers.
“Symptoms of gastroenteritis include nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting.
“If you are experiencing these symptoms it is important to wash and dry your hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before you handle food to prevent it being passed on to others.”
