Ammanford Lions have been raising awareness of its campaign to protect people with medical conditions with the aid of a simple plastic bottle.

The Lions Message in a Bottle campaign is a simple, but effective way to keep essential personal and medical details where they can be found in an emergency, with most people keeping theirs in the fridge or freezer as it protects the details in the event of a fire.

A group of Ammanford Lions set up a stand outside Ammanford's Tesco store on February 18 to hand out the free bottles.

Phil Jones said the campaign was a great success, which saw them hand out hundreds of bottles.

Says Phil: "The faster the emergency services can collate your medical information the quicker they can respond to your medical needs.

"You simply fill out a form, put a copy of your prescription into the bottle, place it inside your fridge and place one green cross sticker on the front of your fridge door and the second sticker on the front door of your home. The paramedics will know exactly what do do next."

If you missed the Lions at Ammanford you can pick up your free bottle from your local pharmacy or doctors surgery.
