Ammanford Arts Club has hosted numerous events starring a selection of famous faces over the years, but the group believe they have scooped their biggest guest to date for this year’s opening event.

Comic actor Tim Brooke-Taylor OBE will be taking to the stage at the club’s first event of the year which is expected to draw in crowds from around the community.

His face has become immediately recognisable to countless millions of viewers over the years and he has helped shape an art form alongside giants of the genre for more than 50 years.

The actor has starred as one of the Goodies along with Bill Oddie and Graeme Garden in the iconic comedy series which he created and co-wrote the scripts.

He has also featured in a variety of films and televisions series including One Foot in the Grave.

Tim has recenetly been trying his hand at the more demanding world of radio comedy, where he is still a regular panellist on Radio 4’s I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, but he will be swapping the small screen for Ammanford’s Miners Theatre on Saturday, March 4.

Ammanford Arts Club chairman Gerald Jones, who has been in the role for nearly 30 years, said: “We’ve hosted some pretty notable celebrities over the past few years from Michael Portillo, Gyles Brandreth, Roy Hattersley and so on but this is perhaps our biggest coup of all.

“We are greatly indebted to Theatrau Sir Gar for their cooperation and to both them and the Trustees of the Miners Theatre for their crucial financial support.”

“This will be an unforgettable evening in the company of one of the funniest and best-loved comedy performers of our time, as Tim discusses his long career with the leading writer and broadcaster, Chris Serle who will himself be remembered for starring in That’s Life with Esther Rantzen.”

An evening with Tim Brooke-Taylor is set to be illustrated with clips from the funniest moments from his TV and film career which would alone be worth the admission fee.

Tickets for the show starting at 7.30pm are priced at £15 and can be purchased by ringing 0845 226 3510 or by visiting theatrausirgar.co.uk.
