A HEARTFELT tribute has been made in honor of a former Ammanford stage school teacher.

Rebecca Evans, originally from Penygroes, was killed in an accident on the M4 motorway near Port Talbot on November 29.

The 27-year-old was 8 months pregnant and her unborn daughter Cari also died.

Rebecca’s partner Alex and their two year old son were also in the car, and whilst Alex was unhurt Cian was badly injured. He had two fractured femurs and a fractured skull and was flown by Air Ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Rebecca was part of Encore, an Ammanford stage school, for three years teaching aspiring children and youngsters all the skills they need for a career on stage or screen.

South Wales Guardian:

Alongside school principal Elin Wyn Murphy, Rebecca, a qualified dance teacher, inspired children from ages 4 to 18 years old while preparing them for performances in stage productions, concerts and festivals.

Determined to do something that would be a fitting tribute for all that Rebecca had done for the students of Encore, Elin and the students came together in the days after Christmas to record the song Anfonaf Angel (I’m Sending You An Angel) in memory of their friend.

The film is being shared across social media and everyone who views it is being asked to make a donation to Wales Air Ambulance, without whom Rebecca’s son Cian may not have survived the accident.

In less than 24 hours, half of the initial £2,000 target set by Elin and the students has been met but they would dearly like to raise a great deal more for the charitable trust.

Speaking of the initial response, Elin said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the reaction that Encore’s recording of Anfonaf Angel has received. It’s a very emotional song especially for me as I was asked by Becca’s family to sing it at her funeral just a couple of weeks ago.

“I’m so very proud of all of Encore’s students. They came together and showed amazing strength and courage to be able to record this tribute to Becca, who like me, they thought the world of.”

You can make a donation to Wales Air Ambulance in memory of Rebecca by visiting Encore’s ‘Just Giving’ Page justgiving.com/encore1 or by texting ESSA99 and an amount to 70070.

Encore classes will continue to take place weekly at the Amman Centre on Margaret Street in Ammanford from Tuesday, January 17.

Every Tuesday there are two sessions. Session one takes place between 4.30pm and 5.30pm and is for children from reception class through to year 3. Session two takes place between 5.45pm and 6.45pm and is for primary school children in years 4 to 6 and secondary school children, year 7 and above.
