A Towy Valley choir is set to host a concert in support of Wales Air Ambulance and the Fire Fighters Charity.

Cantorion Llandeilo Singers, conducted by Gordon Kilby, will be performing Vivaldi by Candlelight on Saturday, January 14 in All Saints Church, Ammanford.

The 7.30pm concert will feature soloists from two of Wales's talented young voices Helen Pugh, soprano, and Ffion Haf, mezzo-soprano.

Helen Pugh grew up in Llandeilo and is an avid Eisteddfod competitor and has won many prizes including being a past winner at the Pantyfedwen Eisteddfod in Lampeter.

Ffion Haf, who having being raised on the family farm at Danycapel, Dryslwyn, became a keen member of the National Federation of Young Farmers. Ffion acknowledges the importance of competing at local eisteddfodau, where she gained the foundation and experience that enabled her to perform on national and international stages.

Leading the chamber orchestra at the concert will be violinist Rakhi Singh. Rakhi comes from a musical family in Llandybie. She attended Chethams School of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music, and, with her quartet - the Barbirolli Quartet - has also been a fellow at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music.

A prize winner from a young age, she has won many major national and international prizes, and is now Assistant Leader of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Choir members Peter Eyre and Katie Gibson will be playing solo recorders. Peter was born and brought up in Cardiff, and as a boy was head chorister at Christchurch, Llanishen, Cardiff, later studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Katie Gibson attended Llangadog CP School where she was taught to play the recorder by Peter Eyre, and went on to study music at the University of Leeds.
