A YOUNG mother who was eight months pregnant and her unborn daughter have both died after a crash on the M4 near Port Talbot.

Rebecca Evans, who runs Ammanford stage school Encore, died after a crash involving a BMW, a Peugeot and an Audi on the westbound carriage between junctions 38 and 39 on Tuesday morning at around 8.20am.

South Wales Police said the 27-year-old died at the scene and her unborn daughter was also killed.

Her son Cian, two, was seriously hurt in the tragedy and partner Alex was also in the crash near Margam.

Alex, 28, worked alongside his wife at homeless charity Shelter Cymru and they were on their way to work when the tragedy happened.

Shelter Cymru have taken to social media site Facebook to pay their respects.

A spokesperson for the charity wrote: "We are all deeply saddened and in a state of shock following the death of our Education and Youth Officer Rebecca Evans.

"Without her passion, and commitment toyoung people many would have faced homelessness and uncertain futures our thoughts are with her partner Alex Evans, our Communications Officer and their son Cian both of whom survived the accident."

A 50-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
