Cwmaman Mayor's Fun Run took place last weekend and raised a grand total of £1,400 for the X-ray unit at Amman Valley Hospital.

The event took place on Sunday and comprised three separate races 10k, 5k and a 1k tots trek. The routes had some of the stunning landscapes the Amman Valley has to offer.

The winner of the 10K was Matthew Yelland, Geraint Williams came second place and third place went to Wayne Lewis. June Avery was the first lady to pass the finish line during the 10K run.

Johnathan Smith beat off stiff competition to take the title of the 5K run, followed by Geraint Jenkins in second place and Lucy James Packer came third.

In the 1K tots trek Milly Bennett took home the trophy for first place, Martha Bennett came second place and George Wrigley followed in third place.

Mayor of Cwmaman, Cllr Kevin Madge said: “The first fun run was very successful, considering the weather wasn’t favourable in the morning of the event.

“ I am pleased the event has raised £1,400 for the x-ray appeal and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported and took part in the event.

“I would like to give a special thanks to Cwmaman town council clerk David Davies and Community Development Officer Robert Venus who both worked tirelessly and helped make the event a huge success.

“Also thanks go to all the volunteers, including the police cadets and everyone who got involved.

“As mayor of Cwmaman I am pleased with how the day went and the hope is to make it a bigger and better event next year.”

Cwmaman Community Development Officer Rob Venus added: “I would like to thank the community and to everyone who took part.

“We had fun and raised money and that is what our objective was to do whilst hosting the Mayors Fun Run.”
