Police in Ammanford are investigating an incident where someone dressed as a clown entered a house on Iscennen Road, and assaulted the occupant.

The incident occurred at around 8.20pm on Sunday, October 9. The occupant did not suffer any injuries.

PC Shaun Davies said: “We’ve received a number of reports of people dressed as clowns scaring individuals this week, which is distressing enough, but this isolated incident goes beyond a prank and a criminal offence has been committed. I must emphasise that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable.

“I urge anyone with information about who committed this assault to call Ammanford Police Station on 101. If you wish to report anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Dyfed-Powys Police has this week issued a warning to people dressing as clowns have been warned their outfits may not be committing an offence, but their behaviour could.

Sergeant Kerry Scoberg said: “Dressing as a clown is not an offence, but deliberately scaring someone, causing harassment, alarm or distress could lead to arrest. There is also the possibility that you could attempt to scare the wrong person and they could retaliate.

“Please be mindful that what seems like a bit of fun to you, could not be seen the same way by those on the receiving end of this prank.”
