Old and new have teamed up as Garnant's Army cadet detachment has officially become affiliated with the Garnant branch of the Royal British Legion.

It is hoped that by joining forces each branch will be able to support one another.

The cadets are set to support the British Legion branch with the upcoming Poppy Appeal which starts on Friday, October 28, they will also join with the branch for the Remembrance day parade.

Attending the affiliation were branch chairman and mayor of Cwmaman, Councillor Kevin Madge; branch president, Mr Nevin Anthony and branch secretary, Councillor Pauline Barker.

During the event the cadets showed off their drill skills.

Councillor Madge said it was great to have an organisation in the Amman Valley for both boys and girls as part of their learning of life skills.
