Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West

Hereford 3 Slimbridge 0

SLIMBRIDGE went down to their second Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West in four days but put up a good performance against unbeaten leaders Hereford at Edgar Street.

The Bulls scored twice early on which put Slimbridge on the back foot as they needed to bounce back from the 2-0 home defeat to a top North Leigh outfit at Thornhill Park last Saturday.

Hereford’s John Mills did the damage as he headed past Swans keeper Adrian Kowalski for the opener on 13 minutes after a cross into the box.

And, within three minutes of that goal, Mills was on target again as Kowalski was only able to parry a shot from Hereford’s Jake Sinclair into the path of the home striker to prod into the net.

But Slimbridge dug in and did not allow Hereford to run away with the match in the first-half although the Bulls had most of the possession.

Slimbridge’s Ed Major had a great chance to score on 53 minutes when his cross to the far post almost looped over the home keeper into the net.

And, at the other end, Kowalski put in a fine save to deny Mills his hat-trick on 55 minutes.

But Hereford eventually grabbed a third on 73 minutes when Mills broke from inside his own half and crossed to colleague Tristan Plummer who fired low and hard into the bottom corner of the net and past Kowalski.

While it was a defeat, Slimbridge showed great heart against a side which is expected to win the league by a street.
