A PENYGROES group that encourages people over 50 to live a healthy life have caused a stir in London when they paid a visit to Parliament.

Healthy Allsorts, with members aged between 50 and 80, has been active in the community for the last 15 years.

In that time the ladies have organised scores of events to raise money for charity, choosing a different worthy cause each year. This year the group is raising money for the Wales Air Ambulance and has already raised £3,000.

For the past two years the group has organised a one of the largest coffee mornings for Macmillan Cancer Research.

Jonathan Edwards MP, who met up with the Allsorts in Westminster this week, said he was looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store for the group.

He said: "The Allsorts are a well-known feature of Penygroes. Like so many community groups across Carmarthenshire they meet regularly to undertake some excellent work for local charities and provide opportunities to get together and socialise.

"I was delighted to meet up with them on their tour of Westminster this week.

"I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store for the Allsorts – not least their famous coffee mornings in Penygroes Hall."
