TWO Dyfed-Powys Police officers have appeared before Llanelli Magistrates accused of offering a class B drug as an incentive for information.

Stephen Greensmyth, 54, from Bro Celynin, Bronwydd, Carmarthen and Rhys Thomas James, 37, from Crychiau, Abergwili, both face a charge of wilful misconduct in public office.

Both men spoke only to confirm their name and address.

The charge states between July 5, 2015 and August 23, 2015, while acting as police officers, wilfully and without reasonable excuse or justification, misconducted themselves in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public's trust in the office holder by supplying a controlled drug of class B to a person as an incentive to provide information and thereafter failing to follow correct police procedures.

The men, who have both been suspended by Dyfed-Powys Police force, were released on bail and will appear before Swansea Crown Court on June 20.
