A BETWS-BASED solid fuel, gas and oil heating company is continuing with its efforts to help support the community.

Solid Fuel Services’ (SFS) latest venture has seen them set up a stall at Ammanford market every Friday with the aim of giving out information to help people with their boiler woes.

Backed by a government scheme, SFS is able to offer completely free boilers for low income families with qualifying criteria.

HR manager Ryan Jones said: “We are able to refer people who are on low incomes and qualifying benefits to the scheme and should they qualify they will receive a new boiler.

“If they are not eligible for the scheme then we are also able to offer them alternative help. We don’t want to see anyone suffering without heating or hot water so we are able to offer fantastic packages and finance deals.”

Every Friday throughout May, Ryan and his colleagues will be on hand to offer free advice.

Ryan added: “We know it can be an unexpected expense when you need a new boiler and radiators, but if people come and have a chat I’m sure it won’t be as bad as they originally think.”

SFS staff will be on hand to offer heating advice, whether it be about the scheme or any other issue related to heating.

The firm has a track record of helping people, just last year hundreds of locals turned out to a fun day hosted by SFS.

The day raised £2,886, which was split between Ryan4Leukaemia and the CCTAL Uganda Hospital Appeal.

This year’s fun day has been set for August 20, and Ryan said it will be bigger and better than ever.

“Last year we were very lucky with the weather, it was one of the hottest days of the year. It was a massive event but this year we want to make it bigger so we are looking to also host a fundraising bike ride from Ammanford to Ystradgynlais and back,” he said.

Ryan is calling on people who are interested in taking part in the 26-mile bike ride to get in touch by ringing 07967944403 or look him up on Facebook – Ryan ‘Farmers’ Jones.
