Cardigan town is buzzing and shoppers should bee on the lookout for knitted honey makers over the next few weeks.

The woolly wonders have been created by the Pendre Art knitting group as part of a project by Blooming Wild Cardigan/ Gwyllt yn Aberteifi lead by 4CG.

The group has received £2,500 funding from GrowWild UK, an initiative to get people growing and loving wildflowers, essential for the well-being of the UK bee population.

To kick off the project the Pendre knitters have created a swarm of big black and yellow smiley bees.

The cuddly swarm was released into Cardigan last week. Whoever finds them and returns them to Pendre Art will receive a free packet of wild flower seed, water bottle and a name label. They will be asked to help the bees by sowing the seeds on the pathway up to the Netpool.

They will also have their name put and e-mail put into a lucky dip to win an arm-knitted work of art.

As soon as the bees are returned they will be put out again to swarm around Cardigan.

Over the next few months the bank at Netpool should be blooming. Everyone is encouraged to sprinkle water on the site, talk to the flowers, photograph and enter a competition #grewitmyselfie.

From this week the Pendre knitters are going to begin creating wildflowers of all shapes and sizes. These will gradually begin to adorn the 4CG site in Pwllhai. More and more people are becoming involved and the plan is that by the end of the summer Cardigan will be bursting with both real and woolly blooms.

There are many ways to get involved; from filming and photography to yarn bombing, inspiring, chatting and growing.
