LOCAL Labour candidates received the backing of Neil and Glenys Kinnock who visited Ammanford last week.
The couple were in town to support Steve Jeacock, Labour's candidate for Carmarthen East and former Labour MEP Eluned Morgan, Mid and West Wales candidate. Also joining them was Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner candidate Kevin Madge.
During his visit Mr Kinnock used the opportunity to speak out ahead of the EU referendum.
He said: “People in Mid and West Wales are best served by being in the EU with its regional funding and single market.Voting Labour is standing up for Welsh interests and a strong voice in Cardiff."
Steve Jeacock added: “Only Labour in Wales can boast that we have delivered the lowest level of unemployment across the whole of the UK. "We have record inward investment and the best GCSE results ever. But we will go even further in the next term and deliver 100,000 apprenticeships and free childcare for 30 hours to get even more people back into the work place and contributing to their communities.”
