A GLANAMAN man has appeared before magistrates charged with a string of offences, including robbery and assault.

Rhodri Wyn Llewelyn, of Cwmamman Road, appeared before Llanelli magistrates to face charges relating to two alleged incidents in Glanaman and Tirydail.

Llewelyn, 25, is accused of carrying out a robbery and stealing £40 from a 75-year-old man who was in the Maesybont area of Glanaman on Wednesday, April 6.

The pensioner was said to have required hospital treatment following the alleged incident.

Llewelyn is also accused of assaulting a man with intent to rob in the Tirydail area of Ammanford on Friday, April 8.

In addition, he faced a further charge of breaching a harassment order.

Magistrates were told that he allegedly sent a text message to a woman on March 6, when he was forbidden from contacting her as a result of a court order that had been imposed in October 2015.

Llewelyn entered no pleas to the charges and his case was transferred to Swansea Crown Court.

He was remanded in custody before his next hearing in Swansea on Friday, May 13.

Police have been continuing to carry out doorto-door inquiries in the Maesybont area following Wednesday’s alleged incident.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “The police continue to appeal for witnesses and are asking anyone who was in the Tirydail area of Ammanford between 4.45pm and 5.15pm on Friday, April 8, and may have any information to contact Ammanford police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
