FUNDRAISER Lauren Prosser- who braved the cold and shaved her head to support cancer charities- was delighted to be handing over her donations recently.
Lauren, from Ammanford, raised £2,200 through generous sponsors when she shaved her flowing locks in January as she sought a way to help in the fight against cancer.
It’s a cause close to Lauren’s heart, as her grandfather Geriant Skyrme has been battling not only prostate cancer for the past eight years, but now cancer of the spine and ribs too.
Lauren attends chemotherapy sessions with him and said she was inspired to raise funds by seeing how hard the doctors and nurses work, enabling her to give something back in return.
Through her actions, Lauren was able to split the money raised between the Oncology Fund of the Carmarthen Chemo Unit at Glangwili and Tenovus Cancer Care’s The Man Van based in Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli
Lauren said: “Special thanks to all those who contributed and helped make this happen.”
