THE Met Office has issued yellow severe weather warnings for Carmarthenshire this morning as Storm Frank continues to batter South Wales.

Warnings were this morning issued in relation to both strong winds and heavy rain.

The storm is expected to see continued gales and strong winds around western and southern Wales, easing as the morning continues.

The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “As a deep area of low pressure passes close to the northwest of the UK, wind speeds across exposed parts of Wales, northwest and southwest England and southern Scotland are expected to increase.

“Gusts of 50 to 60mph are likely, with some exposed areas seeing gusts approaching 70 mph.”

The storm has also brought a band of heavy rain which has potential to lead to flooding on already saturated ground.

The rain is predicted to continue until at least 3pm.
