A MAN who shot two people in the face in a flat in Gwaun cae Gurwen has been jailed for 80 months.

Homeless Shane Orzechowski burst into the flat in Heol Cae Gurwen in the early hours of September 27 this year, armed with a knife and ball-bearing gun.

Once inside he then threatened the occupiers of the flat- two men and a woman.

Swansea Crown Court heard Orzechowski first pointed the gun at the head of one of the flat’s occupants but when an attempt to disarm him occurred, that person fell and dislocated his shoulder.

He then turned his attention to the second victim and shot him in the face from around six inches away, causing the victim to fall claiming an injured eye.

Orzechowski then shot a women in the face from a distance of around two feet before running away from the scene.

The victim who dislocated his arm was taken to hospital for treatment.

Twenty-one year-old Orzechowski, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty in court to possession of a knife and imitation firearm, three counts of actual bodily harm and attempted burglary.

Sentencing him to 80 months in jail with an added four months for breaching a suspended sentence, judge Keith Thomas said Orzechowski’s actions were “disturbing”.
