MEMBERS of Ebeneser Baptist Chapel in Ammanford recently celebrated the completion of the £45,000 refurbishment of the building.

The refurbishment of the vestry and chapel was made possible by a £26,314 grant from WREN's FCC community action fund.

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants from community, conservation and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Additional funding included a £10,000 grant from the Mynydd y Betws Windfarm Community Benefit Fund, £5,000 from the Awards for All Big Lottery Fund and £3,000 from the Welsh Church Acts Fund.

Chepal minister, Reverend John Talfryn Jones said the refurbishment would make a real difference to the community, which could make use of the chapel facilities.

He thanked the funding organisations and the invaluable support provided by the staff of the community bureau at Carmarthenshire County Council as well as those members of the chapel involved in the project.
