A SWANSEA Valley heritage group has unveiled its sixth heritage interpretation board.

Ystradgynlais District Heritage and Language Society placed the panel in Penrhos to outline the industrial and cultural heritage of the area.

The chair of the society, Arwel Michael, described some of the features to local school pupils at the unveiling.

Located at the junction of Brecon Road and Hendreladus, the panel was officially unveiled by Nathan Llewellyn, head boy and Ruby Jones, head girl at Ysgol Golwg y Cwm with the assistance of deputies Faith Alexander, Cameron Thomas, Ethan Turner and Kisla Williams.

Also present was Councillor Huw Williams, chair of the Brecknock Division of Powys County Council, Cllr Aneurin Davies, chair of Ystradgynlais Town Council, along with officers and members of the Heritage Society.

Society treasurer John Owens said: "We feel it is important to record the area’s rich cultural and industrial heritage for the present and future generations of young people in the district.

"The society has receive a great deal of positive feedback on the work it has completed to date and we take this opportunity to thank Powys County Council and Ystradgynlais Town Council for their continued support of the society’s endeavours in recording the area’s heritage."
