AMMANFORD's Wonders of Christmas festival kicks off today with entries in the Christmas Tree competition going on display at Ebenezer Chapel.

The highlight of the event though is sure to be tomorrow's attempt to break a second Guinness World Record.

Once again Ammanford is trying to clinch the record for the Largest Gathering of Snowmen in One Place.

Last year 290 Snowmen assembled, falling a little short of the current 340 snowmen record.

This year, organisers Ammanford Chamber of Trade is urging everyone to pull on their scarves and carrot noses to ensure the town is crowned a recordbreaker once gain following the success of the attempt to get the largest number of people dressed as elves in one place.

Angela Phillips, chamber secretary, is calling on parents to add to the snowmen numbers by dressing up as well.

“We’d have made the record last year if parents had dressed up as well as their children,” she said.

In order to be recognised, snowmen must be wearing a white top and bottom, have a hat, scarf, three black buttons and most importantly a carrot coloured nose.

Noses will be available to purchase on the day for those without their own.

Registration will start at the Amman Civic Hall at 10am until 1pm and continue at the piazza until 2.45pm. Counting will start at 3pm.
