NEWTON House in Dinefwr Park is all set for the Edwardian Christmas fayre this weekend when costumed staff welcome visitors in from the cold to enjoy the festivities.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, November 28 and 29, the fayre aims to celebrate everything wholesome about Christmas and encourages people to step away from the modern habits of internet shopping and car park bedlam with an event designed to highlight the spirit of simple celebration.

Santa will arrive and open the Fayre on both days at 11am. After that, he'll head down to his magical grotto in the basement of Newton House where he'll await all of the excited children and adults. Each child gets a wrapped gift and all our kids activities are free.

There'll be lots of festive hustle and bustle in the inner courtyard. Choirs and bands will perform in the marquee, which incidentally is where you can pick up your free glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. There is a non alchoholic option too.

The rest of the inner courtyard and outbuildings will be packed full of tasty treats for all the foodies out there.

There is a free park and ride service at Home Farm. Disabled parking can be found at the visitor Information Centre. Normal admission applies.

Looking ahead, National Trust have a whole host of crafting activities lined up at Dinefwr including a traditional Christmas wrapping workshop (December 4 and 11).

A sight not to miss at Dinefwr this winter is the Christmas deer feed (December 5, 12 and 19) which will see the majestic fallow deer flock to the valley to sample the ranger’s famous deer cake. It’s a spectacular sight and only happens during the winter.

For those looking for walking inspiration, Dinefwr offers visitors the ultimate setting for a tranquil crisp winter stroll. It has some of the most illustrious parkland in Wales and boasts a vast and diverse range of habitats and environments, the perfect setting to get out and about this winter and escape the bedlam of Christmas shopping.
