THE family of Glanaman youngster Hannah Poole have helped donate over £1,000 to Latch, the Welsh children’s cancer charity.

Five-year-old fighter Hannah was diagnosed with type two leukaemia in November 2013 and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Cardiff’s Heath hospital.

Hannah’s parents, Katrina and Adam Poole, organised a charity lantern walk earlier this year along the Amman Valley riverside walk, where they raised £978.06. With the added gift aid donations the total has risen to £1,197.57.

The family were keen to help the charity that has helped them through the last two years.

“We have been given a lot of support from Latch,” said Katrina.

“Hannah, as always is a true fighter, but Latch have made the whole process easier on us as a family.”

In a letter a representative from Latch thanked the Poole family. It read, "This is a fantastic achievement and we cannot thank you enough for all the hard work and effort put into this event to make it such a success."

The donation will be used to provide care, comfort and hope for the future for the children and young people in Wales.

And now Hannah’s older sister Katie is planning her own charity fundraiser.

The Ysgol y Bedol pupil is set to have her long locks cut for the Little Princess Trust – a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer.

The 11-year-old has been growing her hair since Hannah begun her treatment on November 28, and on that exact date this Saturday she will be having the chop at Hair Identity hair salon, Gwaun cae Guwren.

“I know she is very keen to get it cut," said Katrina.

"After two years of growing her hair she will be happy to have her shorter hair back.

"Hannah is the inspiration behind Katie donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust and raising further funds for Latch. I couldn't be more proud of my children."
