Pontardawe residents are set to get magical Christmas parade and light switch-on thanks to a cash boost.

The parade switch-on takes place on Friday, December 4 with the help of funding from Mynydd y Betws windfarm community benefit fund, the town council and sponsorship from Celitic Leisure.

Pontardawe Arts Centre, the town council, the chamber of trade and Celtic Leisure are joining forces to make this year's event bigger and better than ever.

The arts centre will be working with local schools and community groups to create some spectacular costumes for the parade which will be compered by the centre's Pantomime Ugly Sister Anthony Argyle plus special guests.

Mayor of Pontardawe Councillor Brian Thomas said: "It is an unmissable time of the year so we are delighted that once again due to funding and sponsorship the town can come together to create a magical Christmas parade for everyone to remember."

Festivities begin from 5pm with entertainment, craft stalls and of course a visit from Father Christmas.
