An Ammanford teenager, who admitted possessing indecent images of children as young as three, has been sentenced to 26 weeks in prison.

Rhodri Huw Gravell, of Margaret Street, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to seven separate charges of possessing indecent images of children when police raided his home on January 22.

Two of the images were categorised as Category A. Indecent images are classified on a scale of A to C with Category A being the most serious. The 19-year-old also had one Category B image and four Category C images.

Llanelli magistrates yesterday (Thursday, October 8) sentenced Gravell to 26 weeks imprisonment for all seven charges, with each sentence to run concurrently. The sentence was suspended for 24 months.

Within the 24 months, Gravell must follow a prohibited activity requirement which states he must not reside or stay, for even one night, in the same household as a child under 18, must not undertake any work, paid or voluntary or organised activity with a child under 18 and also to attend regular appointments with a supervision officer.

He must also register as an offender with Aberystwyth police for seven years. The photographs, computer equipment and mobile phone will be forfeited.

Costs were set at £85 and Gravell must also pay a £80 victim surcharge.
