Garnant's brand new multi use games area (MUGA) is nearing completion.

And members of Cwmaman town council along with local residents are said to be pleased with the significant progress made at the new £110,000 sporting facility at Cwmaman park.

The Muga will enable a range of sports to be played on the all-weather surface including football, rugby, hockey, bowls, netball, basketball, tennis and cricket.

Floodlighting at the site will make the facility available for clubs to hire out in the evenings.

The scheme was boosted by a cash injection of £50,000 by WREN, a not for profit business which awards grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK from funds donated by FCC Environment to the Land Communities Fund.

Betws Community Windfarm Community Benefit Fund provided £10,000, and the Welsh Church Fund also granted £10,000. Cwmaman town council provided the remainder.

The high standard of work is being carried out Sunshine Playgrounds.
