A plucky team of Ammanford workers have conquered the National Three Peak Challenge in less than 24 hours.

From the snowy peak of Ben Nevis to the beauty of Snowdonia, all via a trip up Scafell Pike- the team of adventurers managed their epic adventure in just 23 hours and 45 minutes.

And in doing so, brothers Justin and Christian Williams, of CFL Commercials, Justin’s son Liam and friends Will Hargreaves and Jordon King, have raised well over a thousand pounds for charity.

The plan started with brothers Justin and Christian Williams talking over a beer earlier this year and deciding the challenge was something they wanted to achieve for themselves. But they were quickly joined by Liam, Jordon and Will plus the group’s friend James Beckett.

Once they had secured a dedicated driver to help them in the challenge, the group decided they would raise money for Cheeko’s charity, which supports Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Various training was then carried out by means of countless Pen Y Fan walks. Unfortunately James suffered a very bad ankle injury a week before the challenge, ruling him out of the climbs.

The challenge began with a 2.45am on September 12 with a long drive to Fort William and Ben Nevis, a tough and very cloudy and cold climb up and down the snow laden mountain.

The six hour drive to Cumbria followed for their conquering of Scafell which the team say was the most testing due to the weather, its rugged route and the start in the dark.

The adventure ended at Snowdon and the most stunning panoramic scenery and a celebratory toast provide by driver Pete Andrews.

Says Justin: “It was a very tough but totally enjoyable experience, one which we will all remember for a long time. And the fact we all got through relatively unscathed and injury free was a huge bonus.

“Most importantly though we have raised some funds for a very worthwhile cause.

“We feel that there has been a huge coming together in our community with the massive amount of interest shown in the challenge.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported and donated to the charity, without whom it would be impossible.”
