Tycroes TV star Alex Jones has been warned she may have to appear in court at the trial of a homeless man accused of stalking her.

Alex, aged 38, may be permitted to give evidence from behind a screen to avoid coming face to face with Shane Goldsmith.

The 44-year-old has denied harassing the One Show presented over an 18-month period by subjecting her to a barrage of Twitter messages.

He is also accused of shouting at the star during a live broadcast of the prime-time BBC magazine programme while he was a member of the audience and declaring his love for her.

One Twitter message Goldsmith sent invited her to a “fry-up breakfast” at the Bear and Staff pub in Leicester Square.

Goldsmith, who represented himself at Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday denied stalking Ms Jones without violence between April 1, 2014, and September 2, 2015.

He claimed that he had been seen in the vicinity of the BBC studios at Portland Place in London because he was homeless and regularly slept on the steps of a nearby church.

He was released on conditional bail and must not contact Ms Jones in any way or go within 100 yards of Portland Place.

He is due to reappear at Westminster Magistrates Court on February 8, 2016.
