THE RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a dead dog was found dumped in a stream in off the M4.

A member of the public found the shocking discovery on Saturday [August 15] in the woods just off junction 47 of the M4 near Penllergaer woods.

RSPCA animal welfare officer Andrew Harris said the dog is a chocolate Labrador.

“The dog has no obvious injuries apart from blood around the month,” he said. “It was wearing a red and black collar with no ID or microchip and was wrapped in a pink and white stripe sheet.

“The way the dog was suggests it was already dead when left. The dog looks in good health so it’s a bit of a strange one.

“We are now appealing for information to try and find out what happened to this dog.”

If anyone has any information about this dog please ring our inspectorate line on 0300 123 8018. Calls are treated in confidence.

The RSPCA would like to remind people to get their pets microchipped to give their lost pets the chance of returning home. It is also important to register the chip with a national database and update your contact details if you move or change phone number.
