An Ammanford town centre pub was forced to close early on police advice on Saturday night following an incident in the street outside.

The Square pub on Wind Street closed its doors at midnight under police advice to prevent further disturbances following an alleged assault.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said officers attended the scene shortly after midnight following reports of disorder outside the pub.

“Officers worked to diffuse the situation and made one arrest,” said the spokesman.

“They advised the public house to close down for the evening to prevent any further disturbance.”

A 46-year-old man from the Ammanford area was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The man was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
