A GENEROUS pet food donation has brought joy to an animal sanctuary that offers shelter to unwanted dogs.

Cefneithin based Many Tears Animal Rescue has been offered a helping hand by grain free pet food brand Canidae, which has donated a year’s supply of dog food to the centre.

The partnership began thanks to dog owner and rescue centre supporter Andrew Dickinson, who won the prize when his dog Joker used Canidae’s Dog Selfie Mirror during Crufts.

When Joker was voted the most photogenic canine by Canidae’s social media community, Andrew suggested that Many Tears Animal Rescue may benefit more from the prize, so Canidae visited the charity with £800-worth of pet food.

Many Tears Animal Rescue was founded in 2003 by Sylvia Van Atta and her husband Bill. The centre takes in and re-homes dogs from all walks of life including ex-breeding dogs, those on ‘death row’ in shelters and those whose owners can no longer care for them. The centre currently cares for more than 180 dogs.

Sylvia said: “With so many dogs in our care, this donation from Canidae is such a great help!

“The dogs have really been enjoying the food and it’s great knowing it’s full of such nutritious ingredients.”

Chris Richmond, marketing manager of Canidae UK, said: “The love of animals is at the core of the Canidae ethos, so we’re delighted to be helping Many Tears Animal Rescue, which is a really worthwhile cause.

“Our recipes are full of fresh meats and whole foods that will keep these rescue dogs full of energy.”

Founded in the US 18 years ago, Canidae is a family-owned and run company. Its products are made from seven to ten key ingredients – it never uses corn, wheat, soy, antibiotics or hormones in its food.
