A PENSIONER from Ammanford “celebrated” his 66th birthday today by appearing at Swansea Crown Court to deny lying about his assets in order to obtain pension credits.

Kenneth Brian Morgan, of 10 Union Street, attended a plea and case management hearing before Judge Keith Thomas.

He denied making false statements to the Department for Work and Pensions in 2008, 2009 and 2012 about the capital he owned.

Morgan also denied making a similar false statement to Carmarthenshire county council in 2008 to obtain council tax relief.

Judge Thomas said a two day trial would begin on September 30 and granted Morgan bail meanwhile.
