Carmarthenshire County Council is investigating complaints of illegal fly-posting to advertise ‘Circus Vegas’ in Llanelli which have gone up across the county.

Posters have appeared on road signs, litter bins and bus shelters in towns and villages all across the county.

Environmental enforcement officers are now investigating to find the persons responsible for the poster.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said large commercial ventures should know better.

“We want to remind people that it is an offence to affix illegal advertisements to any structure on the highway and we will take action against those responsible, and that includes big companies as well as small businesses,” he said.

“Some people may think that we are being unreasonable; however, not only do these posters make an area look untidy but if they are not removed they start to deteriorate, becoming even more unsightly and causing litter. What is more, they also have the potential to distract motorists which could lead to road traffic accidents.”

Cllr Jones added: “It can also cost a lot of money for us to remove these posters. Hopefully, if we can find out exactly who is responsible, we may be able to recoup any costs incurred.”
