A COMMUNITY adventure play project which makes weird, wacky, and wonderful creations for children to play on - has been at it again.

And this time the Glanaman artist, James Barker, who set-up Splat Cymru based in Pantyffynnon with his wife Katrina, has created a multicoloured dream tree.

“Like all the sculptures that are created for the adventure park it was the children that came up with the idea,” said James.

“Its just my job encourage their imagination and together we create something magical - this time we decided to create a dream tree with the aim of raising awareness of children's hopes and dreams."

James’ creations can be painted, climbed on, played in and ridden, and pretty much anything else a child’s imagination could take them.

The Go and Play project was set up by the husband and wife team who came up with the idea of Supporting Pupils learning through Art and Technology as a means to engage children in the great outdoors.

The centre, which is being developed by a group of volunteers, has a two acre play site which offers children and young people natural play opportunities.

“It's all about going back to basics allowing the children to play and explore the natural elements,” said Katrina.

We offer open access play sessions which are held throughout the school holidays and everybody is welcome to come along.”

James and Katrina were invited to Pantyffynnon by Gap-Go and Play a Swansea-based organisation which encourages youngsters to get outside and explore, play and be creative.

The dream team have lots of events coming up during the summer term at Splat Camp so if your child would like some fun in the sun contact James Barker by email: James@spaltcymru.co.uk or visit their facebook page: Splat Cymru.

All the staff volunteers at the centre that host play session are DBS cleared and have the appropriate qualifications.
