PLANS for a new farm complex for Ammanford, which includes a slurry lagoon, have been submitted to Carmarthenshire County Council.

JCR Planning Ltd, on behalf of applicant R Thomas, is hoping for approval for the plans, which would see the complex constructed on land at Bodist Uchaf, Wernolau Road.

The proposed scheme would be focussed around a series of open areas on the land and would comprise of a farmyard, two buildings and a slurry lagoon.

The site is part of a larger holding that currently comprises of 262 acres in total and deals in the management of livestock, including sheep and cows.

In the report to the council, the agents state that while the existing holding does benefit from a single agricultural building to the former farmstead of Bodist Uchaf, the possibility of expanding on this facility has been ruled out for a number of reasons.

These are namely due to access and proximity of residential properties, as well as the topography being unsuitable for accommodating further buildings.

The new complex, which would allow an increase in livestock levels, will be focussed around a series of open areas.

The slurry lagoon would be situated to the south-western corner of the application site and will be enclosed by security fencing.
