A round-up of cases to have gone before Llanelli magistrates in the past week.

A GORSLAS man has been fined by Llanelli magistrates for not wearing a seatbelt as he drove through Carmarthen in September last year.

Owain Gary Tobias, aged 20, of 15 Cysgod yr Ysgol, admitted the offence and must a £40 fine, a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

LLANELLI magistrates have fined a Penygroes motorist £135 with three points for not having proper control of her vehicle.

Nicky Jo Evans, aged 21, of 53 Norton Road, admitted her hands were off the steering wheel and holding her head when spotted in Drefach in September last year. She must also pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

A FINE has been issued to an Amman Valley motorist who drove with a shattered windscreen.

Llanelli magistrates fined Andrew Paul Thomas, aged 37, of Pantyffynnon, Brynaman, £135 after he pleaded guilty to driving on Black Lion Road, Gorslas, in September last year, with his windscreen obscured by a large ‘spider shattered through screen’.

He will also pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

AN YSTALYFERA man who drove without a licence has been fined £50 by Llanelli Magistrates.

Robert Craig Williams, aged 38, of 34 Allt y Crug Road, pleaded guilty to driving otherwise in accordance with a licence at Pont Abraham Services, Ammanford, in August 2014.

He must also pay costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

FAILING to identify drivers thought to have committed offences has resulted in fines for two motorists after their cases were dealt with by Llanelli magistrates.

Andrew John Hooper, aged 34, of 91 Blaenau Road, Llandybie, admitted the offence, which happened in October last year, and was fined £110 with six licence points, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. A charge of speeding was withdrawn.

Petru Balaceanu, aged 23, of 33 Heol y Neuadd, Tumble, was convicted in his absence of the offence, which happened in September, and was fined £600 with six points, £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge. Magistrates withdrew a charge of speeding.

BREAKING speed limits has cost two Ammanford motorist fines and licence points.

Llanelli magistrates fined Leigh Jason Hopkins, aged 25, of 108 Dyffryn Road, Saron, £80 with three points and a £20 victim surcharge, after he admitted he clocked up 94mph on the A48 dual carriageway in September.

Stephen John Jones, aged 54, of 51 Rhos Y Deri, Tumble, admitted he drove at through Llanddarog at 59mph in September- the limit there is 50mph. He was fined £80 with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.
