British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for information following the attempted theft of a motorcycle at Swansea railway station.

Officers have also released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place around 1.40pm on Saturday, March 14.

PC Ian Wood, who is investigating the incident, said: “The victim, a 19-year-old student from Swansea, parked his black Yamaha motorcycle in the cycle racks at the front of Swansea railway station.

“The vehicle was secured to the racks and covered with a weatherproof sheet, which concealed it from sight.

“Later that day, a person approached the cycle racks and began interfering with the bike in an attempt to remove it. When this proved unsuccessful he walked away, leaving the bike in situ.

“Fortunately, no significant damage was caused; however, this was a clear and deliberate attempt to steal the vehicle.”

PC Wood added: “Enquiries have been ongoing and I am today in a position to release a CCTV image of a man I would like to identify and speak to, as I believe he may have key information in relation to this incident.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may recognise the man pictured to contact police.”
