Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood AM and former party Leader Lord Dafydd Wigley are to launch the party’s general election campaign in Carmarthenshire on Friday.

Set in Ffos Las Racecourse, party members, supporters and the UK media will be attending a campaign rally held to signal the firing of the starting gun on the campaign - just one day after Members of Parliament are sent home from Westminster.

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards will address the rally and speak of the need for Wales to elect a strong team of Plaid Cymru MPs.

Plaid Cymru is extending an invitation to anybody who wishes to attend the rally and meet senior party members.

The event takes place at 11am on Friday, March 27, at Ffos Las Racecourse.

Speaking ahead of the event, Plaid Cymru’s election co-ordinator, Lord Dafydd Wigley said:

“I’m very much looking forward to coming to Carmarthen East and Dinefwr once again to launch our national campaign.

“With Westminster giving unprecedented attention to Scotland, it is imperative that Wales has a strong team of Plaid Cymru MPs to ensure Wales is not left behind.

“Carmarthenshire residents will know that Plaid Cymru has been continuously speaking to residents and actively campaigning since the last general election, but Friday’s event will signal the official launch of our Working for Wales campaign.

“We’re extending an invitation to anybody who wishes to come along and hear about how Plaid Cymru will make Wales matter in the next Parliament.”
