MOVES to reinstate the post office service in Brynaman have taken a positive step forward, according to local County Councillor Glynog Davies.
Plaid Cymru Councillor Cllr Davies met with post office representatives last week to discuss locating a new service at the village’s Black Mountain Centre.
The Post Office in Brynaman closed unexpectedly late last year, prompting MP Jonathan Edwards to seek an urgent meeting with Post Office Ltd. to discuss the fate of the service.
At the start of December Mr Edwards announced that he had secured a commitment from the Post Office to reinstate a service in the village.
Cllr Davies said he was encouraged by the meeting which discussed moving forward to the next stage and, ultimately, getting a post office service open again.
“I wish to thank the Post Office for its positive meeting.,” said Cllr Davies “ I know the representative was impressed with the centre and recognised it, like we do, as a real community hub.
“We’re now in the process of setting up a further meeting to go through the specific requirements of locating the post office in the centre.
“I am very encouraged that the post office service will be available in Brynaman before too long.”
