AN environmental charity is calling on the people of Carmarthenshire to take action to help improve conditions for our pollinator friends.

In line with the Welsh Government’s Action Plan for Pollinators, Keep Wales Tidy has launched a new initiative to give bees and butterflies a helping hand over the coming months.

Natural Buzz is a pollinator initiative run by Keep Wales Tidy in partnership with the Horticultural Trade Association and Green Space Wales and funded by the Welsh Government’s Nature Fund.

Communities can have their own Wild Weekend with a helping hand from Natural Buzz. There is £55,000 worth of Garden Centre vouchers up for grabs for people in Wales.

Community groups, schools, charitable organisations and local authorities in Wales can apply for up to £500 of vouchers thanks to Natural Buzz to help create wild flower havens to help create new habitat and food sources for pollinators.

Projects must take place on publicly-accessible land or on school grounds and result in the creation of a new wildlife habitat, even if that habitat is just in pots or borders.

Grants will be issued on a monthly basis, with the scheme closing in May.
