Carmarthenshire is bracing itself for gale force winds this evening with possible outbreaks of heavy rain.

Gusts up to 65mph are expected to blast the county before dying out from 9pm onwards with isolated wintry showers falling, possibly as snow over the hills.

The rest of the night is expected to be clear and cold, with widespread frost and a risk of ice.

Carmarthenshire County Council gritting teams will be out from midnight with additional crews on hand to tackle the aftermath of the strong winds.
