COUNCIL crews were busy overnight dealing with the impact of atrocious weather conditions across Carmarthenshire.

Ten teams were on standby to attend any incidents resulting from the high winds and heavy rainfall.

Crews attended to numerous fallen trees and flooding incidents in Llandeilo and Llandovery.

The A4069 near Llangadog creamery is currently still closed due to river flooding. It will re-open once the river has receded.

Power lines were brought down by trees in Cwmpengraig. Trees had also fallen in Kidwelly, New Inn, Cwmpengraig and Pontyberem and Cwmann.

Trunk roads were also affected with numerous areas affected by flooding.

There are currently no other road closures in the county.

Meanwhile, gritters are currently patrolling on the Black Mountain and Pumsaint-Lampeter area due to potential snow this morning and into early afternoon on high ground.

Forecasters predict windy gusts of up to 70mph during this afternoon. Showers are expected to fall as sleet and snow above 300m, especially this afternoon.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s executive board member for Technical Services, Councillor Colin Evans, said: “It’s been a busy night again for our crews and I’d like to thank them for their work in responding to the incidents which occurred due to the high winds and heavy rainfall.”
