A DEDICATED Ammanford care-worker was three times the drink-drive when she was taken from her parked car by police, Llanelli Magistrates Court has been told.

Sharon Evans, of 65 Pantyffynnon Road, was arrested after officers spotted her Ford Focus “wedged between a pavement and a BMW” on Bishop Road at 8.30pm on November 29.

Prosecutor Ellie Morgan told the court that tests showed the 44-year-old had 102microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

“The police approached the car, removed the keys from the ignition and helped Evans out,” said Ms Morgan.

“Evans was breathalysed at the scene and gave a positive reading.”

Defence solicitor Laura Sherwood told the court that Evans had a history of mental illness which had put a strain on her marriage.

“Prior to this incident she had been suffering with depression,” said Ms Sherwood.

“Her family have been very supportive and they are working through things.”

Ms Sherwood said Evans was employed as a care-worker and takes great pride in her work.

“She is very sorry for her actions,” added Ms Sherwood.

Evans was banned from driving for 24 months and fined £330. She was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £33 victim surcharge.
