A NEW holiday home could be built in the Towy Valley if Carmarthenshire County Council agrees.

An application to convert a redundant agricultural building at Esgair Farm, Llansadwrn, into a four- bedroom holiday let has been submitted by Andy Hodge and Zelah Pengilley.

The plans would see the barn, thought to have origins in the 16th century as a traditional Welsh long house, would become a modern let, designed to take advantage of the tourist opportunities the area offers.

Agent Catherine Thompson Consultant states in the application that the ‘applicants vision for the barn is to take advantage of the tourism opportunities provided by the area, where they seek to offer holiday accommodation. She adds that after substantial research into the holiday let business in the applicants ‘ have identified a small gap in the market for four- bedroom accommodation, sleeping up to eight people with dedicated ancillary accommodation for ramblers and cyclists’
