CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council’s Leader has helped deliver some festive cheer at the Royal Mail delivery office.

Councillor Kevin Madge went to the Carmarthen branch to help sort the huge amount of Christmas mail.

Royal Mail predicts that around 700 million Christmas cards will be delivered over the festive season, with an additional 40 million people expecting items from their online purchases.

Cllr Madge said: “It was great to meet postmen and women at Royal Mail’s Carmarthen delivery office and see first-hand just how much effort they put into delivering for people at this time of year.

“Our postal workers do such an important job at this time of year and help to deliver Christmas for many people and families in our area. I would like to thank them for their efforts and wish them all the best over the busy festive period.”

•The last date for posting second class mail is Thursday, December 18, or Saturday, December 20, for first class mail. Special delivery items can be sent as late as Tuesday, December 23.
