CARMARTHENSHIRE County Council has refused permission for an agricultural building scheme at Brynaman because it would be harmful to nearby residential dwellings.

Plans had been submitted by Helen Daniels for the retention of a new agricultural building, extensions to others and the erection of both a polytunnel and livestock pen at Brecon View Farm, 146 Cwmgarw Road.

However, the council ruled that the scheme was not to go ahead after they found it went against their overall development policy.

The council state that the overstocked nature of the holding and its close proximity to residential dwellings would be harmful ‘by virtue of the smells and noise generated by the keeping of animals on a site which has no agricultural justification in a mainly residential area.’

They added that the plans would not sustain or enhance the local environment and that it was ‘of unsuitable design utilising a mixture of cheap materials inappropriate to the character of the area.’

These materials were also not complimentary to the existing development.
