FORGET Frosty – Carmarthenshire County Council Leader Kevin Madge will be pulling on his top hat and an orange nose to help put Ammanford in the record books.

Councillor Madge will be dressing up to join the world's largest gathering of snowmen as part of Ammanford’s Wonders of Christmas Festival this weekend.

More than 500 people have already signed up for the challenge, and it is hoped that interest will snowball and hundreds more will turn up for the event taking place on Saturday at the plaza at 3.30pm.

They aim to crush the current record of 366 people dressed as snowmen, gathered in one place.

The count will be followed by a snowman parade down to Quay Street in time for the official lights switch on at 5.30pm.

Cllr Madge said: “I want to do my bit to help get Ammanford into the record books once again, and urge others to come along too.

“I’ve already got my snowman costume and hope to be doing a victory parade in it following the count!

“I am really looking forward to the Wonders of Christmas Festival this weekend, it promises to be really good family fun.”
